Sea Rescue

Sea Rescue

In the early hours of 7 September 1838, Grace, looking from an upstairs window of the on the spotted the wreck and survivors of the Forfarshire on, a nearby low rocky island. TheForfarshire had foundered on the rocks and broken in half: one of the halves had sunk during the night. She and her father determined that the weather was too rough for the to put out from , so they took a (a 21 ft, 4-man Northumberland) across to the survivors, taking a long route that kept to the lee side of the islands, a distance of nearly a mile. Grace kept the coble steady in the water while her father helped four men and the lone surviving woman, Mrs. Dawson, into the boat. Although she survived the sinking, Mrs Dawson had lost her two young children during the night. William and three of the rescued men then rowed the boat back to the lighthouse. Grace then remained at the lighthouse while William and three of the rescued crew members rowed back and recovered the remaining survivors.Meanwhile the lifeboat had set out from Seahouses but arrived at Big Harcar rock after Grace and her father had completed the rescue:

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam (NNS) -- Navy search-and-rescue (SAR) swimmers from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25 on Andersen Air Force Base are a critical resource in Guam.

HSC-25 is the only helicopter asset for the Mariana Islands. It supports U.S. 7th Fleet in the Western Pacific and assists the U.S. Coast Guard by providing SAR units.

HSC-25 provides around-the-clock SAR support and averages 30 rescues and 70 medical evacuations each year. SAR swimmers can respond to a variety of situations from aircraft crashes to boats capsizing and are usually the first to arrive at the scene.

Those who want to become SAR swimmers are placed in a special division in boot camp.

"The program changed a few years ago," said Senior Chief Naval Aircrewman (NAC/AW) Jonathan Hettel, HSC-25 rescue swimmer. "Now all the rescue swimmers go to a different division in boot camp called 800 Division. Their focus is getting in shape; they do twice the amount of physical training than everyone else."

The division includes Navy SEALs, explosive ordnance disposal technicians and special warfare combatant-craft crewman.

After boot camp, they attend air crew school in Pensacola, Fla. "This school is four weeks," Hettel said. "It's basically physiology and anything flight-related, from water survival to parachute disentanglement."

Search And Rescue Jobs

Search And Rescue Jobs

Not all opportunities are alike and neither should your strategy for presenting your information to potential leads. One of most costly mistakes job seekers make is to become lax with their resumes. They stop planning ahead and marketing themselves with resume strategies.
When you are looking for a new job, a resume is one of the first tools you develop to showcase your skills, work experience, education and qualifications. It’s not enough to create one resume, you should tailor the to each audience.
If you are new to the job market or have been searching for a while, you will be faced with a broad array of decisions:  to stay in your same field, change industries or perhaps explore the possibility of consulting in your area of interest.
A resume is much like a marketing brochure for a product. It gives the reader information about the product, and the goal is to create interest in the product that leads to a sale.
Your resume presents “you as the product” to the employer, providing information and creating a reason to bring you in for an interview.
On the other hand, if you are considering a consulting assignment, a  may not be the best approach.  which typically is used for introductions (for speaking engagements, for example), may be what you need. While a resume  highlights your  work history, a biography is unlimited and gives you a creative edge because you don’t have to present information in chronological order.

Probably the No. 1 deduction real estate pros miss is the home-office deduction. Many erroneously believe they don't or can't qualify for this deduction. Untrue. Almost any real estate agent or broker who works as an independent contractor can qualify for the home-office deduction.
This is the case even if you work out of an outside sales office and/or spend most of your time on the road and at the properties you're trying to sell.
In addition, many real estate pros are afraid to take this deduction because they have heard that it is a red flag for an IRS audit. The IRS says this isn't the case.
The home-office deduction may have been an IRS audit flag over a decade ago, when the rules for claiming it were more restrictive than they are now. But there is no reason to believe that claiming it today significantly increases your chances for an audit.
It's important to understand that you don't have to spend all of your work time in your home office or even perform your most important business activities there to qualify for the home-office deduction.
You can qualify for this deduction if you have a home office that you use exclusively and regularly for administrative or management activities for your real estate business, and you have no other fixed location where you regularly perform such activities.
Administrative and management activities can include, but are not limited to:

Law enforcement patrols are flown over the Gulf of Mexico, around the Mississippi River, over Lake Ponchartrain and other neighboring waterways.
Located 11 miles west of the metropolis of New Orleans, Belle Chasse offers those stationed at the air station the experience of small town life while at the same time just a short drive across the river is one of America’s major cultural attractions, keeping everyone entertained. They engage, inspire and give voice. Stories give value and help us belong.

Whilst our ageing population grows, admission to a nursing home can be experienced as a time of great loss, loneliness, isolation, grief and depression.
While many residents struggle to adapt to the physical changes in ageing, illness and end of life, they have something uniquely valuable to contribute - their own unique life stories. Many in our community are deeply interested in hearing and celebrating these stories.
The Biography Program is a not-for-profit initiative helping residents in aged care nursing homes to write and publish their life stories.

We do this by recruiting, training and supporting volunteer biographers - members of the community who share a passion and interest for life stories and people.

The Biography Program enables the life stories of older persons to be known, affirmed, valued and celebrated.
We are running our pilot project in 2013 and need funds:

  • To provide professional support and supervision to volunteer biographers
  • For printing and binding of personal life stories

There are many ways you can be involved in The Biography Program and we would welcome partnership with you around sharing your resources, skills, knowledge, contacts, influence or your voice.
